Insight, Straight from the Students

We asked students at the Law School a series of questions about what it’s really like to live and study at NYU. Here’s how they answered:

What are the best courses you’ve taken at the Law School, and why?

---

Capital Punishment Law and Litigation with Bryan Stevenson. His lectures always stayed with me afterwards.

---

International Tax with John Steines. It showed me that the United States tax system isn’t the biggest tax game—the world’s tax system is.

---

Civil Procedure and Federal Courts, both with Burt Neuborne. His classes pushed me to expand the boundaries of my intellectual abilities and reshaped the way I look at the law.

---

Advanced Administrative Law with Rachel Barkow. Professor Barkow is enthusiastic and knowledgeable. She teaches the subject so that you understand how the pieces fit together and recognize how to apply them.

---

Mergers and Acquisitions and Securities Regulation, both with Stephen Choi. Professor Choi is very clear and to the point.

---

The Administrative and Regulatory State with Roderick Hills. Professor Hills is absolutely mile-a-minute nuts.

---

Take anything with Helen Hershkoff. She cares a lot and makes nearly everything easy to understand.

---

Immigration Law with Cristina Rodríguez. She is surely a rising star.

---

Corporations with Stanley Siegel. Professor Siegel has some interesting stories to tell.

---

The Art of Appellate Decisionmaking with Judge Harry Edwards. Judge Edwards teaches every class. We learn the "art" of appellate practice by reading briefs that came before his court, disposing them as a judge would, and writing concurring or dissenting opinions.

---

Corporations with William Allen. Professor Allen knows what he is talking about. He is an amazing lawyer and former chancellor, without a doubt!

---

Corporate Finance with Gerald Rosenfeld. He actually makes corporate finance interesting and easy!! He even made me want to get an M.B.A—in a few years.
